(Born: March 6, 1826 - Died: March 13, 1868)

American editor. Bowen was the editor of the Columbia Spy from November 30, 1843 until December 2, 1844. He became the editor of the Miner’s Journal (Pottsville, PA) on January 1, 1848. He is buried in the Charles Baber Cemetery, in Pottsville, PA. His tombstone (or burial record) states the date of his death, and gives his age as 42 years and 7 days. His birth year is usually given as 1824, but on uncertain authority. His wife, Elizabeth Weaver Bowen, died April 7, 1853, at the age of 24.
