(Born: October 24, 1794 - Died: July 14, 1862)

Henry Dwight Chapin was born on October 24, 1784, in Wilbraham, Massachusetts. His parents were Jason and Rache Chapin. He graduated from Yale in 1814 and praticed law in Prince George’s County, MD, after which he moved to Baltimore. He moved to New York City about 1843, and to Flushing, NY in 1849.
