Jesse Erskine Dow












(Born: January 21, 1809 - Died: October 23, 1850)

American journalist, editor and author. He served about the frigate Constitution from August 1835 - April 4, 1836, later publishing a 10-part series of "Sketches from the Log of Old Ironsides" in Burton's Gentleman's Magazine, beginning with the issue for July 1839. According to Mary E. Phillips, he was the doorkeeper of the House of Representatives in 1844 (Phillips, 1:906).
