Rosalie Mackenzie Poe

Poe's sister. This carte-de-visite is one of only two known photographs to have been taken of Miss. Poe. The other, a tintype, is from about the same period. They show her in her final few years. At the bottom of this particular copy, she has signed her name as "Rose M. Poe, Sister of Edgar Allan Poe, the poet." The middle name of Mackenzie is from William Mackenzie and his wife, who took her into their household in 1812, just as John and Frances Allan took in her brother Edgar.
