(Born: November 28, 1825 - Died: July 30, 1885)

American accountant and autograph collector. Hinsdale Silliman Root was born in Whitesboro, NY (or in Connecticut) on November 28, 1825, the son of Joel Root and Piera Ives. He requested an autograph from Associate Justice Levi Woodbury on June 12, 1839. He does not appear to have ever married. He is listed in the 1885 Federal Census for Bristol, CT as a laborer, and single. He died in Bristol, CT, and is buried there in West Cemetery.
