[page 2, column 5, continued:]

THE EVIDENCES OF CHRISTIANITY, by C. P. Mc Ilvaine: Harper & Brothers. — This book by Bishop Mc Ilvaine, has been received with great favor, not only in this country, but in England. The copy on our table is of the sixth edition, published within thirteen years. Popularity in this case is fully justified. Our language does not possess so good a digest of the unanswerable arguments reason furnishes christianity again scepticism. Thus, though by no means a great, it is a most useful work; and commends itself, to every denomination of christians.
