GRAHAM'S MAGAZINE. — We have received the May number of this successful Magazine, and find it, as usual, highly entertaining. “The Mother's Pride,” a beautiful mezzotint engraving, by Sartain, a plat of Fashions, and a page of Music, form the embellishments. The best paper in the book, is entitled, “A Descent into the Maelstrom,” by Edgar A. Poe. It is a highly original and masterly production. The critique on Dickens’ “Old Curiosity Shop,” — by the same writer we presume — is judicious and just — searching and liberal. “Worth and wealth” has hardly merit sufficient to justify its admission to the Magazine. “My Grandfather's Story” and “The Parsonage Gathering,” neither add to, nor detract from the reputation of the respective writers. “The Sea-Fight” is a stirring sketch, but scarcely equal to many former productions of the same pen. The “Leaf from te SAWYER'S Portfolio,” is drawn with the usual skill of the author, though the materials have not much claim to originality. Taken collectively, the number is decidedly meritorious, and will prove an interesting one to the patrons of the work. Messrs. N. Hickman and W. H. Harrison, are the agents for this city.
