Site of the Old Harsen House.

TO THE NEW YORK HERALD: Having lived most of my life in the neighborhood I have always been familiar with the location of Mount Tom and the Harsen house.

Mount Tom was a local name given to a rocky hill in Riverside Park at about Eightieth street. It is a good point from which to observe the boats passing up and the river.

The Harsen house I remember as standing a short distance west of Broadway at Seventy-first street. Its site was just back of the present Sherman Square Hotel.
