DEATH OF E. A. POE. — We regret to learn that Edgar A. Poe, a distinguished scholar and critic died in Baltimoae [[Baltimore]] on Sunday, after a brief illness, in his 38th year. He was a man of decided genius, and a terse and forcible writer, whose merits were everywhere acknowledged, notwithstanding many excentricities, which in a measure detracted his usefulness. — Literature has lost in him an ornament, and a large circle of warm friends will hear of his death with poignant regret.
