Dedication of the Poe Monument. — The committee having in charge the arrangements for the dedication of the monument recently placed over the grave of Edgar A. Poe, in Westminster Presbyterian church-yard, corner of Green and Fayette streets, have designated Wednesday, the 27th instant, as the day for unveiling the monument and the dedicatory exercises. Professor William Elliott, Jr., president of Baltimore City College, will read a paper containing a history of the inception of the work, its progress and completion; Professor Henry E. Shepherd, superintendent of public schools, will deliver an oration, and letters will be read from Wm. C. Bryant, Oliver Wendell Holmes, John G. Whittier, and other American poets. A letter is also expected from the English poet Tennyson. At the moment of the unveiling of the monument a classic chant will be sung by talented singers of Baltimore, and an appropriate prayer will be offered by a clergyman.
