Mrs. Barbarina Brand, Lady Dacre

(Born: 1768 - Died: May 17, 1854)

English playwright, translator, sculptor and poet. Barbarina Ogle was the third daughter of Hester Thomas and Admiral Sir Chaloner Ogle. She married Valentine Henry Wilmot in 1789. After his death, she married Thomas Brand, the 20th Baron Dacre, on December 4, 1819. Baron Dacre died in 1851. According to the Gentleman’s Magazine, Tales of Peerage and Peasantry was actually written by her daughter, Mrs. Arabella Jane Sullivan (1796-1839), the author of “Ellen Wareham.” Arabella Wilmot married Frederick Sullivan.
