(Born: February 20, 1819 - Died: September 29, 1908)

He was the son of Frederick Hammond Eveleth (1790-1854) and Eunice Pratt (1787-1822). George was the second of eight children, and the oldest son. Born in Maine. Died in Denver, CO, and is buried there, in Riverside Cemetery. He attended Bowdoin Medical College in 1849, and may have worked as a physician in Phillips, ME 1855-1857. He was married to Rosannah Davies, or Davis. She died in 1898. Eveleth corresponded with George Edward Woodberry in 1883-1885, as Woodberry was preparing his biography of Poe.
