(Born: ca. 1808 - Died: June 13, 1885)

American medical doctor, editor and author. He was born in East Goshen Township, Chester County, PA. He graduated from New York University. He lived in Philadelphia for many years. He was briefly the editor of the Literary Casket. At some point, he moved to New York City. As a medical man, he was an early abstainer from tobacco. There is a brief obituary in the New York Times for June 17, 1885. He is said to have left a fortune of approximately $500,000. He claimed a patent on a special syringe, although several attempts to assert his rights in court were ruled against him. He was also a director of the Second Avenue Street Railroad Co.
