George Pope Morris

George Pope Morris

(Born: October 10, 1802 - Died: July 6, 1846)

American editor and author. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and began his carrer as an apprentice in the printing shop of Samuel Woodward, in New York City. He married Mary Worthington Hopkins (1803-1869). They had a country estate near Cold Spring, NY. One of his children, William Hopkins Morris (1827-1900) was a Brevet Major General.
