The son of George Poe, Jr. He married Frances E. Toulmin on February 1, 1833, in Alabama. He and his wife moved to Texas in 1834, where by 1835 he became Sam Houston’s adjutant general, with the rank of captain. He died in Houston, TX. His wife died in 1871.
