The Southern Literary Messenger
Poe worked as an editor of this magazine. The desk Poe used is now at the University of Texas in Austin. Another desk from the Southern Literary Messenger is on display at the Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia. When this building was taken down around 1920, many of its bricks and wood planking were saved and used in buildings that are now part of the Poe Museum.
