A Note on the Text

We have reedited the text from a photocopy of the page of the March 4, 1843, Saturday Museum. Our text differs in a few large and a number of small details from that in Pollin, Discoveries in Poe. We also silently correct typographical errors in the Saturday Museum: at the start of paragraph 4, the original reads “neessity” for “necessity.” In the second sentence of that paragraph, we corrected “objecs” to “objects.”
