THE LONDON QUARTERLY for January, 1845, is just issued from the press of Leonard Scott & Co. While we shall never cease to consider the wholesale importation of British Literature without let or hindrance, as a great robbery of foreign authors and an indirect fraud upon our own, intercepting the bread which should nourish tem, we must cordially welcome the reprint of the best book, so long as the pirating system (most justly so named) prevents our obtaining them in any other way. The Foreign Quarterlies are of this order — the London among the most foremost — and we will try to enjoy the feast, while the American public, through its magnanimous Congress, refuses payment for its share to the host of whose toil and skill the entertainment is provided.
