LONDON ANNUALS. — 1. Cattermole's Historical Annual. — 2. Heath's Book of Beauty. — 3. The Keepsake. — 4.The Forget-me-not. — New York, D. Appleton & Co.

The “Book of Beauty,” the “Keepsake” and the” Forget-me-not,” are so well known, that it is only necessary to observe that the volumes for 1845 retain all their superior claims to notice which have heretofore marked their course. But the “Historical Annual, or Heath's Picturesque Annual for 1845,” not having appeared during four years, is not so fully recognized. This volume contains a narrative of the great civil war between Charles I. and the British Parliament, illustrated by 15 superb engravings, which include a full length portrait of Charles I. in his royal robes, and Oliver Cromwell on his charger, as he appeared at the head of his troops. The other engravings illustrate some of the principal scenes in the history of that eventful period; and is one of the splendid contributions of the Fine Arts to depict modern history; and a most suitable ornament for the tables of those who would unite beauteous pictorial elucidation with eloquent historical intelligence.
