Index to the Bibliographies of Poe Criticism
and Scholarship Appearing in Poe Studies
1969-1983

Memphis State University

This subject index to scholarship on Edgar Allan Poe provides a key to the entries and annotations in all installments of “current Poe Bibliography” in Poe Studies, Volume 2 (1969) through Volume 16 (1983).

Headings, which are comprised of authors, titles, or subjects, are arranged alphabetically throughout the index. Following each heading, the entry itself consists of (a) the name of the essayist, editor, translator, or compiler who is identified with that subject, (b) the volume number (and when necessary the issue number) in Poe Studies, and (c) the page number. Under headings with multiple listings, entries are arranged in chronological order by volume number.

Included as headings are the names of critics, editors, translators, and compilers when their names appear in annotations or bibliographical entries not headed by their surnames. An asterisk beside an author’s name indicates that two or more entries by that author appear on the same page.
